Although the forecast for this year’s Memorial Day is bright and sunny, we don’t always get so lucky with holiday weather. So this year, if you think it’s too cool to pull that grill out, try one of these ideas instead.
1. Make chocolate-covered fruit.
Since it was too cold in the store to grill outside, we made some chocolate covered fruit inside. Chocolate covered anything is quite easy to mess up, especially if you burn the chocolate. There are two ways to melt chocolate for dipping – by microwave, or on the stove. The links provided detail both methods. We used the stove, and they came out great – except we forgot the parchment paper, so the chocolate stuck! 😦 Melting chocolate for dipping is a great way to make the house smell great and get in those fruit servings!
2. Play a board game.
Twister, anyone? When’s the last time you’ve played some good old’ fashioned Monopoly? Or Life? Board games are a nice way to unwind and genuinely enjoy your time away from those smartphones, Ipads, and other gadgets. Jenga also works well if you have little ones.
3. Clean something that hasn’t been cleaned in a long time!
Yep, I’m talking about the refrigerator that you haven’t moved since it was installed. You know that appliance that you just haven’t moved in 5 years? Move it and clean behind it. The extra effort will make you feel much better about enjoying your day off. Be care about moving your appliances though – they are heavy and may have special wiring.
This idea really needs no introduction or follow-up text.
5. Sign up for our Miele event, this Wednesday! …Okay, just had to throw that in there. Here’s the event if you haven’t seen it. Awesome tutorials on convection, induction, and steam cooking!
