Sangria is a drink made with wine, fruit, other spirits, and juices. It is traditional a drink found in Spain, Portugal, and Argentinian areas. It is often a drink that is confused with Latino culture, although it is typically only seen in the regions listed above. If you are looking for a Latino-inspired drink with a Cinco De Mayo twist, try this recipe!
1 Bottle Red Wine – such as L.A. Cetto’s Petite Sirah
1/2 ounce Azul Tequila
3 ounces Triple Sec
1 liter bottle Trader Joe’s Grapefruit Soda
1/2 pint frozen strawberries
The night before you are serving the Sangria, combine the wine, tequila, and triple sec in a large container that has a lid. Cut up the fruit into small pieces, except for a few large grapefruit and orange wedges. Save 1 orange wedge for each glass you plan to serve, as a decorator.
Close container and refrigerate for at least 10 hours.
Before serving, add the entire bottle of soda to the mixture. Stir, serve, and enjoy! 🙂
